I had an eerie feeling about Shahbaz Bhatti, always when I saw the poor soul going hither and thither for the rights of minorities. An active, tolerant and nice chap who was a loyal Pakistani and was above religious differences. He wasn’t a blasphemous person by any means, though he was in the favor of the idea that steps should be taken by parliament to stop the abuse of blasphemy law.

He was the prime target and he knew that, and he was multiple times asked on the TV shows about this, and he always stood up for his principles and for the Pakistan and for the tolerance. I am relieved that you only know my name here and you don’t have my address or whereabouts, and so I am at least safe from the extremists and terrorists till the time I keep my flap shut in real life. And I am not alone, a vast and over-whelming majority of Pakistanis are silent with fear in the real lives.

And that is the prime reason, these terrorists have managed to hijacked our country, our society, our religion, our ethos and everything else.

Federal Minister for Minorities, Shahbaz Bhatti was assassinated by unknown gunmen in Islamabad. Governor Punjab Salman Taseer was also assassinated in the same Islamabad in broad daylight. Who is Next Sheeri Rehman, Asma Jehangir, Nawaz Sharif, Farooq Sattar, or Zardari himself? Or it could be you or me, and nobody would give a damn.

It is a wake up call to all Pakistanis. Wake up & act. Your destiny is in your hands. Better late than never. Shed your silence and fear and strangle the terrorism and extremism forever.
